Kure Beach

NORTH CAROLINA'S PLEASURE ISLAND

Kure Beach, located on the southern end of North Carolina’s Pleasure Island (doesn’t that sound like the perfect vacation spot?), is an outstanding get away when you are trying to take a break and unwind – and yet, is only 15 miles to the south of Wilmington. Kure Beach is one of those beach settings that families return to from one year-to-the-next, generation after generation, building a tradition of great times in an idyllic setting. At Kure Beach, we love our visitors and we will welcome you with open arms, sunny days and star-filled nights.Kure Beach, located on the southern end of North Carolina’s Pleasure Island (doesn’t that sound like the perfect vacation spot?), is an outstanding get away when you are trying to take a break and unwind – and yet, is only 15 miles to the south of Wilmington. You will love our beach. Wide sandy beaches and Atlantic surf. You will find Kure Beach to be the perfect setting for all beach lovers. Enjoyed by sun worshipers, beach book readers and children with their buckets and shovels, our beach is cherished. Water sports abound. Jump into paddle boarding and surfing, along with kayaking and wave running. Divers explore the intriguing shipwrecks, ledges and reefs just offshore. With a great playground at OceanFront Park, children enjoy the adventure of the Park and the fun of story time. Our visitors come to the beach to get a first peak at sunrise and close their lazy days enjoying the calm of evening setting in.

Vacationers at Kure Beach have lots of delicious food options for every meal of the day. With plentiful breakfasts, burgers, steaks and seafood galore, southern cuisine including the regional favorite low country boil, ice cream and sweet treats, there is something to please everyone. And, much to our seafood lovers' delight, when we say “Catch of the Day”, we are talking “Barely out of the Water”!

With bike trails, a new 18-hole disc golf course and great spots for bird watching, the interests of every visitor can be fulfilled. You can walk the trail that encircles a Civil War fort at Fort Fisher State Historic Site and you can honor our fallen leaders as you visit the North Carolina History Museum. Children love North Carolina's Aquarium's Adventure Reef, another fun outdoor play area.
